Third parties 'giving orders' damaging to police, says Musa
KUALA LUMPUR: There is meddling by outsiders that it disrupts the work of the police, said retiring IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
The interference came from those in the Home Ministry, politicians and those with 'advice' that could assist in police investigations, he noted.
Musa said, however, that such third parties should not be giving 'orders' without the knowledge of the seniors officers, mainly in areas of conducting raids and handling of armed suspects.
Such meddling in the force could bring disastrous consequences to the force, he said.
“It would interrupt officers from carrying out their duties," said Musa at a press conference in Bukit Aman prior to his retirement on Sept 12.
“All groups of people interfere. From the ministry, political parties and people with vested interest.
“The ministry I mentioned is the Home Ministry, of course. Other ministries cannot give me orders.
“No outsiders should dictate what police officers should and should not do. It must be a direct command and control from senior officers," he added.
On his retirement Musa said he was happy to leave the police force after 41 years of service.
“I love my job, I love the force and I have achieved all that I wanted," he said.
