THERE have been many complaints on the poor maintenance and dirty condition of roads in the Klang Valley.

Among the roads in a sorry state are Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang and the Federal Highway.

Mororist Lim Hwa Hong said huge piles of rubbish were usually left by the roadside.

“The trees growing on the sides of the ramp linking the Federal Highway and Damansara-Puchong Highway are also not trimmed, thus blocking the view of motorists,” Lim said.

He said the ramp, which is near near the Sungai Way Free Industrial Zone, also needed improvement.

Not swept: The dried leaves along Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang.

Lim said the Federal Highway had many faulty street lamps resulting in dark zones.

“The sides and divider of the highway are also littered with garbage,” he said.

He said he had complained to the Public Works Department (JKR) in August via e-mail but still had not received any reply.

“I am appalled by their attitude and the image of our toll-free highways. No one got back to me and nothing has changed. The roads should be cleaned daily. We are not paying toll for these roads but that doesn’t mean that JKR can ignore the cleanliness of the stretches,” he said.

A JKR officer said they would have to determine whether the said roads fell under its jurisdiction. The complaints would then be forwarded to the relevant JKR offices for further action.

“The public can send us their complaints via http://jkr.starselangor.net/and we will usually reply within seven days,” she said
