When public amenities are being neglected, who do we blame?

When public amenities are being neglected, who do we blame?

The answer is simple.

It is not the Member of Parliament, not the State Assemblyman, nor the Local Councillor if they have done their job by highlighting our complaints to the local council.

The answer is: the Local Council, which has been funded and empowered to look into the complaints raised by the people.

The blame is on the Federal Government which has control over the civil servants in this country.

The fact is: 53 years of administration under the BN, we are still suffering from pothole-riddled roads, poor drainage system, poor or simple no streetlights, poor signages, illegal dumps here and there, dirty eateries, just to name a few. Unsustainable development. Tropicana, for example, is a posh area, but the roads that run through it are pothole-riddled, narrow and badly maintained by the local authorities. Where is the enforcement which is supposed to be carried out on dirty eateries or restaurants which continue to occupy parking lots?
