Bravo, Tan Sri Khalid

I think our civil servants should know who they should cooperate with at the end of the day.....
I am sure Najib would not have instructed a Royal Commission of Inquiry to probe the death of Altantuya, Teoh Beng Hock and the commission paid for the submarine deal.

Joint MACC-KSSB task force on illegal sand-mining
Aug 21, 10 2:57pm
The Selangor-owned Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (KSSB) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have agreed to set up a special task force to eliminate corruption in the state's sand-mining industry.

NONEThe decision was reached at a meeting between KSSB, MACC and Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (right) at his office yesterday, a statement issued by the press secretariat of the Selangor Menteri Besar's office said today.

It said the meeting was attended by KSSB chief executive officer Wan Ab Halim Wan Ismail and its executive director, Ramli Majed, while MACC was represented by deputy chief commissioner (Prevention) Sutinah Sultan, director of examination and negotiations department Shaharuddin Khalid, Selangor MACC director Jaafar Maahad and Selangor MACC examinations and negotiations unit chief Mohd Noor Abd Rahman.

The meeting is the result of a Selangor government invitation to MACC to place its own staff and officers at KSSB to eliminate corruption in sand-mining activities.

According to the statement, KSSB would brief MACC on its operations, including the methods and procedures used by KSSB in sand mining activities.

Apart from that, MACC would also be exposed to KSSB's systems as well as given insight into how the company operates the business, it added.

During the meeting, Khalid thanked MACC for willing to work with the state government to ensure sand-mining and business operations were free from corrupt practices.

He said that the task force would allow MACC more elbow room to monitor KSSB's operations and to trace if there were procedures that might provide space for corruption.

Khalid also said that MACC was closely monitoring sand mining activities in several states and hoped that this would help the commission compare the procedure practices in sand mining operations used in Selangor and in other states.
