Death threat: Pua, aide, give cops fingerprints, DNA samples
By STEVEN DANIEL
PETALING JAYA: Tony Pua and his aide have given their DNA samples and fingerprints to the police over a death threat note and bullet the Petaling Jaya Utara MP received in the mail last week.
The duo were present the Mutiara Damansara police station at 1pm Thursday and had their fingerprints taken, after which, they were taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre here to give their saliva samples for DNA analysis.
It is learnt this was done in order to rule out the possibility that Pua or his aide had sent the letter themselves.
"There were several sets of fingerprints on the note, so the police requested me and my aide to give the samples to assist in police investigations," Pua said.
No arrests have been made so far and the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
The note and bullet, in an envelope, were sent to Pua at his service centre in Damansara Utara here on Aug 11.
The threat followed Pua's suggestion last month that the Selangor state government abolish the bumiputra discount for purchase of houses costing more than RM500,000 and commercial property costing more than RM2mil.
