EMULATE FROM THE GROWN-UPS

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested four 14-year-old schoolboys suspected to be involved in a snatch theft on Tuesday, with an empty pack of potato chips as their only lead.

One of the youth had snatched a woman's bag as she was waiting for the lift at Blk 578 Hougang Ave 4.

He fled along with two others.

Residents reported a group of four youths fitting the description of the suspects loitering at the stone table near the lift lobby earlier.

A price label on an empty pack of potato chips near the stone led police to the shop that sold it. But the shop owner was not able to provide any leads.

The breakthrough was made when the officers went through footage from CCTVs near the shop.

Several youths fitting the descriptions of the suspects were captured in some of the footage.

From the CCTV footage, the officers were able to narrow their search to a school based on the suspects' attire.

This led to the arrest of the four suspects. Investigations are still on-going.

Persons found guilty of snatch theft may be jailed up to 7 years and caned. - CNA
